MY STORY
My Injury
When I was 16 I tore my Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) playing hockey and when I was 17, I did it again. This left me with a very unstable knee and unable to play the sport I love.
3 years and 2 surgeries later I returned to the hockey pitch as I began my degree in physiotherapy at the University of East Anglia (UEA).
Since then, I have played hockey with an ENORMOUS and very ugly knee brace on.
After I injured my knee for the third time earlier this year, I am rehabbing differently...functionally.
ACADEMIA
My Degrees
I studied for my BSc at UEA, over 3 years. In this time I spent time in the community and in musculoskeletal settings with both adults and paediatric patients.
After my undergraduate degree, I began working as a physiotherapist in Norfolk. Alongside working, I am completing a Master's degree in Clinical Research.
After completing my Master's, I will begin building an application as a Pre-Doctoral bridging student to start a PhD investigating into the prevention of ACL injuries in female athletes.
MY WORK
PHYSIOTHERAPY
In September 2022, I started working as a physiotherapist in North Norfolk. Working in a private MSK setting was my main goal once completing my degree.
Since beginning work, I have developed skills in shockwave therapy and manual techniques amongst others.
